Lenco Armored Vehicles is the leading designer and manufacturer of armored police vehicles for Law Enforcement Agencies and State Police and Sheriff’s Department SWAT teams. Lenco also manufactures armored military vehicles for International Police Forces, the US Army, US Navy, US Air Force and US Marines. Lenco Armored Vehicles are built on heavy-duty commercial truck chassis platforms. This allows for warranty covered repairs, maintenance service, and parts replacements on the vehicle chassis at any number of OEM dealers, truck centers and retail parts stores.
The Opportunity
The Technical Writer is responsible for writing, creating, and managing all internal and external Standard Work Instructions, product and operation manuals, maintenance documents, parts manuals, and miscellaneous technical documents, as required. The Technical Writer will mainly interact with the Engineering Department, Technical Services & Parts Sales Department, and
Manufacturing / Production Department.
Responsibilities
• Updates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures for documentation of manufacturing,
assembly and repair procedures for on-site and external vendors.
• Writes and maintains all Standard Work Instructions for internal directions of the manufacturing process and customer-based installation directions.
• Creates and Maintains checklist for manufacturing and production depts to follow creating consistency across depts and personnel.
• Documents production processes and identifies gaps in documentation and production depts and creates, or updates documentation to ensure consistent and accurate documentation.
• Updates and maintains product operation and maintenance manuals consistent with vehicle model year changes.
• Updates and maintains product parts and equipment manuals consistent with product and vehicle model year changes.
Requirements
• At least one to two years of relevant experience. Should be pursuing a bachelor’s or associate degree in technical writing or communications, or similar fields
• Understand and be familiar with the design-to-manufacture environment.
• Adobe Creative Suite or other similar design software experience
• Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience.
• SolidWorks, SolidWorks composer or SolidWorks visualize experience is a plus.
• SolidWorks PDM experience a plus.
Compensation and Applicant Instructions
Work hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday.
